Access to quality healthcare is a fundamental need, yet many American Samoa residents face significant barriers to receiving the care they need.
Long wait times, limited specialists, and the need to travel off-island for certain procedures create hardships for families already struggling with the high cost of living.
We applaud recent efforts to improve services at LBJ Hospital, but more must be done. Telemedicine initiatives, recruitment of specialists, and expanded preventive care programs should be priorities in the coming year.
