The village of Fagaitua is celebrating the promotion of one of its own to Sergeant Major, the highest enlisted rank in the United States Marine Corps.
The ceremony, held at Camp Pendleton, was attended by family members who traveled from American Samoa for the occasion.
"This promotion represents 25 years of dedicated service," said the commanding general. "Sergeant Major exemplifies the values we hold dear in the Marine Corps."
He is only the third American Samoan to achieve this rank in the history of the Marine Corps.
